RELEASE NOTES

(a) Choose What a New Note Is Called - Settings ▸ General ▸ Fresh Nodes offers two shapes for a new note's name. Date and time follows your region and your 12- or 24-hour choice. Sortable reads 2026-08-21 13.45 on every Mac. A preview shows what your next note would be called, and notes you already have keep their names.

(b) Three Asterisks Are a Scene Break - Three asterisks on their own line render as a centred star divider, the way a novel sets a beat. A line of dashes or underscores keeps the full-width rule, so both are available in the same note. The source stays plain markdown and an exported PDF matches.

(c) Export or Delete From a Row - Right-click any row in Home's Node Explorer. Export opens the same panel as ⌘⇧E, already pointed at that note.

(d) Surfaces That Say More - Rest the pointer on any section heading in Settings and it explains what the section is for. In the Node Inspector, SUGGESTED had one sentence for every situation - it now has six, so a run that found nothing says so instead of repeating the invitation.

(e) A Quieter Sticker Grid - Sticker cells held two lines for a name and two for a caption whether or not either filled them. The name is gone - it is struck across the top of the room a click opens - and captions run to one line. A cell is a third shorter.

(f) A Muted Link Target - With the caret inside a link, the address between the brackets took the loudest ink on the page. It now takes the same muted ink as the brackets around it.

(g) Typing in a Long List Stays Fast - Editing one item in a long list rebuilt every item in it. Only the items your edit reaches are restyled now.

(a) Your Tree on the Desktop - The garden tree is now a widget, in three sizes. It is the same tree Home draws, and it grows when you re-catalog.

(b) Onboarding Teaches the Swipe - A new first-launch step for the two-finger swipe between open files. The gesture is live on it, so you can try it there.

(c) A Bigger Node Explorer - Home's explorer gains filters for content type and when a note was made. Rows can show each note's description, and the density you pick is remembered.

(d) The Media Column Remembers Its Place - PDFs and images reopen where you left them, the way notes already did.

(e) Every Inspector Section Animates - Opening a second numbered section while one was open used to jump. All of them now animate.

(a) Large Notes Open Fast - A 50,000-word note took about twenty seconds to open. It now takes a little over one, and switching away from it is four times quicker.

(b) A Cleaner Graph - Edges are drawn at one solid tone instead of piling up brighter at every crossing, and they sit a hairline behind your notes. Tag names take the same neutral ink as note names, with the yellow left on the pentagon, and selecting a node no longer nudges its label.

(c) Highlights Invert - ==Highlighted== text is now a block in the text colour with the page colour as its ink, and the caret and the pointer stay visible on it.

(d) A Tag Section That Holds Still - In the Node Inspector, ALL TAGS and CONNECTED are capped at a height that cannot move, so connecting a tag no longer shifts everything below it. Tags sort by how many other notes use them.

(e) Your Stickers at a Glance - The sticker collection is a grid you can take in at once, and a sticker opens in a room of its own.

(f) A New Note Takes the Current Tab - ⌘N now fills the tab you are on, like every other way of opening something. From Home it still opens a new tab.

(g) Keep a Note From the Agent - The inspector footer can exclude a note from the agent - no reviews, and its generate squares go dark - and the same line brings it back.

(h) ⌘D Deletes What You Are Looking At - On a tag page it deletes the tag, the way it already deleted the open note.

(a) Alexandria and Rosetta - Nodes now has tiers. Alexandria is the library - unlimited notes and tags, the whole font catalog, import and export, library backup and the graph's settings panel. Rosetta adds the local inteligence, tag suggestions, semantic search, descriptions and reminders, all on your own Mac. Rosetta includes Alexandria, and both are bought once - no subscription, no account, nothing that expires. They live in Settings ▸ Plan, alongside restore purchases. Without either, Nodes is still the whole editor with a demo-sized library. Everyone who used Nodes before this release keeps everything, free, forever.

(b) Every Agent Pass Has a Switch - Descriptions, tags and reminders are three separate passes, and each one now has its own switch in Settings ▸ Agent. Turn a pass off and nothing new is generated by any route - its manual action and its suggested surfaces withdraw with it, while the descriptions and suggestions a note already carries stay. Reminders need a downloaded model, so with the built-in Apple model selected that row says so rather than failing quietly, and your choice is remembered for when you switch back.

(a) Library Snapshots - Nodes now keeps recovery points of your whole library - notes, PDFs, images and the database behind them - on this Mac. One a day while the app is open, one before a replacing import or a database update, and one whenever you press for it. Restoring sets your current library aside instead of deleting it, so even a restore you didn't want can be walked back. It lives in Settings ▸ General ▸ Library Backup and can be switched off.

(b) Shortcuts That Close Things - ⌘W closes the current tab, Escape cancels an import that's waiting on you, and a second ⌘F in the graph closes the search the first one opened.

(c) Models by Name - The downloadable models take Latin names that carry their rank - Alba, Avium and Rubrum join Velutina, Robur and Gigantea - and the built-in one is plainly the Apple Foundation Model. Five small squares beside each name show how far up the range it sits, and when nothing is chosen the agent button becomes a way to choose.

(d) Tags You Can Say No To - Suggested tags in the Node Inspector close with two verbs, add and dismiss - dismissing takes that name off the table for this note, and the agent stops offering it here. A tag with no rules yet shows a card explaining what rules are and how to write the first.

(e) Reminders Read Everything - The task sweep on Home now covers every note instead of your open tabs and the twenty most recent, and it stays quick. Long lists fold behind a show-all, and a task your checklist already shows no longer arrives a second time from the agent.

(f) A Warmer Welcome - The first-launch tour types markdown and renders it as it goes instead of showing finished examples, and the graph and import demos sit on the window itself. The window keeps its size now, and racing back through the slides no longer crashes it.

(a) Tabs Replace Pins - The toolbar is now a true tab strip - one tab per open item, browser style. Opening a node fills the active tab instead of stacking a new chip, and every tab stays until you close it, so pinning is retired. Start fresh with an empty tab from the New Tab row.

(b) A Home for the Agent - Settings has a new Agent tab - the background agent's home. A master card shows live status at a glance, the power rules and primary language move in from General, redesigned model cards make choosing a model plainer, and a library chart shows how much of your library the agent has reviewed. Vietnamese joins the primary languages.

(a) Sharper Semantic Search - Semantic search is a lot more accurate. A built-in, retrieval-trained model now understands meaning across many languages, so sharper results are there the moment you open the app - with no setup or download.

(b) Cleaner Node Inspector - The Node Inspector is calmer and easier to scan. Description, Tags, and Dates sit in numbered sections you can collapse, it remembers which you left open, and a quiet footer shows when a note was last edited.

(c) Fuller Search Previews - Semantic search results now show two full-width lines of each note's description, so you can tell similar matches apart at a glance.

(a) Steady Search Results - Search results no longer overlap or flicker while typing.

(a) Home Page - Nodes now opens to Home - a landing page that gathers your tag suggestions, reminders, a look at your library, your most-used tags, and a garden grown from your notes.

(b) A Living Garden on Your Card - Your User Card now shows a living garden - your chosen tree grows with your library under a sky that follows the time of day. Unlock milestone stickers as you write and collectible trees as you link tags, from the Verdant Oak to the rare Golden Willow, all in the new Collectibles section in Settings.

(a) Completely Redesigned Graph - The graph has been completely redesigned and rebuilt on a new rendering engine. Your notes lay out as points with yellow pentagon tags and gray lines that follow your [[links]], and edges, markers, and labels now stay crisp at any zoom. Hovering a node brightens its neighborhood and dims the rest, so clusters and connections read clearly at a glance.

(b) Image Understanding - With a vision-capable local model like Gemma 4, Nodes can now see your images. The Node Inspector suggests tags and writes descriptions for image nodes from the picture itself, and when you generate tags or a description for a note, it folds in what any embedded ![[images]] depict.

(a) Redesigned Node Inspector - The Node Inspector now lives inline at the top of your note and scrolls away as you write, with reorganized Tags, Links, Details, and model sections, an editable title, and a single control to generate tags and descriptions.

(b) Flow - Distraction-Free Writing - A redesigned Flow mode (formerly Focus) gives markdown notes a calm, fullscreen writing stream that flows your text one line at a time with a typewriter-style caret and an animated entry. Toggle it from the View menu or the sidebar.

(c) Truly Lossless Export & the .nodes Archive - Export and import are now truly lossless and use a new .nodes archive: pins, generated descriptions, sticker unlocks, and node identity all survive a round-trip, so your links stay intact and re-importing updates notes in place instead of duplicating them. Image nodes export in their original format, and on import you can skip, replace, or keep both.

(a) Nodes Light Window - Double-click any .md file in Finder to open it in a clean, standalone Light Window - read or edit loose markdown without pulling it into your library, then choose Import into Nodes whenever a file is worth keeping.

(a) Redesigned Onboarding - A reworked first-launch experience with an animated intro and a one-tap import to get you started faster.

(a) Markdown Tables - Added table support to the markdown editor for richer formatted notes.
